Archives

I just noticed that Blogger lost all my post before September of this year. Now there were only a few, but still that blows.

Change Over

As you can see, I changed the site again. I know, I know. I moved to a new publishing system, MoveableType. This gives me a lot of new features including comments. I decided to move it over before finishing the layout to match the old site. I'll be working on that this week and should have it completed by the end of the weekend.

*update*
Turns out I spent most of the night updating the style sheet, so it looks right now. Just need to do the multiple styles.

Why lists are bad

This is why.

Freedom from being tracked

Isn't one of the prices that we pay for freedom the risk that we may die because of it? Not to be insensitive, but the couple thousand people lost on 9/11 doesn't justify this.

Also, did I actually hear Bush say that he wants to get rid of taxes on dividends? Jesus, aren't the rich rich enough?

From Salon.com

Salon is running a excerpt from "Do You Love Me or Am I Just Paranoid". Here is my favorite quote.

"Dating" -- an antiquated word that refers to something people did in the fifties and stopped doing once it became okay to openly sleep around

New Apple display

People always say that Apple's equipment is so much more expensive than other PC manufacturers. That's not really true when you take everything in to account except in one area. Apple has never made a competitively price display. I've never owned own nor have I never felt comfortable suggesting them because of their price. Not anymore. Yesterday Apple released a brand new display, the 20.1in (1680 x 1050) LCD for $1299. Talk about competitive. Formac has some really nice LCDs that I thought I would get when I was ready to make the switch from CRT. Their 20in model (4:3) goes for $1699. Now the Formac still has slightly better contrast and nits, but for $400, does it matter? Apple also reduce the price on the 23 HD (1920 x 1200) from $3400 to just $1999! It is the cheapest in this range by at least $600. Anyway, good job Apple and keep the price cuts coming. Now where can I find some money to buy the 20iners to replace my two CRTs?
