Work
I have this client whose network is jacked. Now normally I don't work with anything other than Macs as that is what I do, but the person who did tech stuff for the PC was fired, so that leaves me. They have a big NT box for the accounting group, a linux box for the creatives and another linux box had been running as a router. My first day doing work for them they had some people working on the linux router and they couldn't get it up and running. Now this facility has maybe 20 computers total. Why in god's name are they running NAT on a dedicated machine? So I just pulled it and put in a simple $50 hardware router. The right tool for the job people.
I was called by them today because the creative server stopped responding (For the record, this is a server that was setup before they were my client). So I get there and it is panicked. A little research and lo and behold the boot drive is dead. Now I have to figure some way to get the files off the other three drives. They don't have another linux box.
