The Oscars

They boo a man off stage for being critical of our President. They give best directory to a convicted child molester on the run in Europe. Does this make sense to anyone?

Funny thing about the Oscars

And the Oscar for Authenticity in the Face
of Danger Goes to...

I'd like to thank the Electricity Supply Board, Ireland, for failing to provide adequate failover technology to support the national grid. I would also like to thank the Irish government for thirty years of underfunding the state electricity suppliers --without this funding shortfall tonight would not have been possible.

I would also like to thank the manufacturers of my surge protector kit, who plain lied, and the manufacturers of my television set, who forgot to design their X32 model with blackouts in mind. I must thank my dear mother, who has supported me throughout my most difficult times, and who insisted that I bought the X32 over all other models.

Finally, I must especially thank my wife. My wife, light of my life, who stood on the cat when the power came back on, scaring my mother, who then fell forward, smashing our television, radio, and DVD collection to pieces.

All of these people played their part in getting me to this point, and without any one of them, I would have had to watch the Oscars.
