Date

Well my date just ended. I would say that it went well. It was great and Etan was right, the boyfriend isn't really an issue. I've been up for 24 hours now. I didn't get my nap in yesterday.

Glutton

I'm a glutton for punishment. The women from the other night just called me and asked me to go out to lunch. So off I go. I doubt that it will turn into anything. In fact she annoyed me so much that I'm not even sure that I like her at all.

Sister

I setup a new site for my sister today on my MovableType install. Her old site was being hand coded, not very efficient. It will be nice to be able to leave comments. Now I just need to convince my other sister & my mom that MT is the way to go. It should not be to hard.

Sleeping

For some reason I just woke up and thought it was seven in the evening. I could not understand why I had slept so long. Now that my brain is working a little better, I can't understand why I slept so little. Time to go back to bed.

The West Wing

I've long thought that The West Wing was among the best shows on television. Tonight's episode confirmed that. This episode was all over the place, and they did a great job of keeping it exiting. They built it up so well and the editing was masterful.

It is the type of show that is very drawn out. Seldom are there resolutions and when there are they are usually many episodes away from when they started. I enjoy that. It makes it one of the few shows that I look forward too and can not miss.

The only thing I don't like is Elisabeth Moss who plays Zoey, the President's daughter. I'm not sure why, but she drives me nuts.

I hope that Law & Order is as good.

Blogroll

Thanks to Rick Klau I have a new way to mangage my blogroll. Instead of using blogrolling, I can now use Movabletype itself. I no longer have to depend on another service that may go down. Hopefully this will keep load times down as well for people who have slower connections.

Night on the Town

It's rare that I have the opportunity to meet anyone new. It's even more rare that I get to meet someone that I think is attractive. Rarer still that I meet someone that I like. I was lucky enough to meet someone this weekend who I did find attractive and who I actually liked. So in a move that is very uncharacteristic of me, I called her tonight and asked her to meet me for dinner and what not. About three hours into it, the boyfriend in mentioned.

Just a couple of thoughts, she knew I was interested, I told her so when I ask for her number. If that wasn't enough, a friend of hers told her that I was interested. Why would she give me her number, and why in hell would she go out with me?

It isn't this particular situation that upsets me. It's all the other ones like it. It just seems that I'll never meet anyone. It just hurts. I like to think that I'm a likable person that has something to offer. Nights like this really make me wonder.

Chicago Landmark

I'm not a baseball fan and the one thing I hate about living in Wrigleyville are the Cubs games. The traffic is out of control. Thousands of drunk men and women driving and walking around, all very agro.

What I do like though is Wrigley Field. One of the oldest ball parks in the country, second only to Boston's Fenway Park, it is very impressive. I've always enjoyed walking by it on my way to the train, when there isn't a game of course. One of these days I'll get a tour. There is probably some great history lessons to be learned.

I don't like the statue of Harry Caray. It looks like those images of lost souls coming out of hell. Creeps the shit out of me.

My Brain

I'm so frustrated! I changed my badge area a little last night and for some reason I can't figure out why the top two badges are pushed to the right more than the others. It must be something really simple that I'm just missing. If someone knows why I will love you forever and ever.

Classic Mac

I had forgotten how much Mac OS 9 sucks to troubleshoot. Extensions, blah. Who's idea was it to allow third parties to patch the system anyway? I can't wait until Quark 6 is out so I can transition the rest of my clients over to X. Easier to troubleshoot, fits better in mixed environments, more fun....all kinds of love.

I type like shit on a normal keyboard now. I keep hitting the space bar when I'm trying to hit enter. No good.

The Replacement Killers

I spent the day watching movies. The first one on the list was The Replacement Killers. I think I may have seen it before, but I'm not sure. Either way it was really bad. The acting was terrible, but I fault the script for that. It's hard to say really cheesy lines well. The fight scenes were a disappointment. I hoped they would at least be neat, no such luck. I like Mira Sorvino but she couldn't save this movie. If it wasn't Sunday and I wasn't hung over I would be annoyed that I wasted my time with it.

Naked Men & Foosball

I'm hung over and I need to get some sugar in my system. Here is the quick run down on the party.

It seem like it was mostly Pick Me Up people, or atleast they were the only people I knew.

I hit on to many people, but it was funny.

Josh & Serena actually got to bed when they said they would. I don't know how they managed to sleep though.

There were some random metal kids drinking Jack straight out of the bottle. I'm not sure anyone knew who they were.

Foosball was very popular.

BoccerBall was not so popular.

Some guy really wanted to get naked.

Josh's boss came with his girlfriend. I thought that was weird. He rides so we had something to talk about.

The neighbors didn't show.

Apparently we started a mailing list. I'm not sure who started it, I imagine it was Serena, but there was a sign up sheet going around. Strange.

Diner Grill rules. No one got the slinger.

Getting into my bed is a pain in the ass when you're trashed. Getting back out to urinate is even more so.

That's pretty much the night as I can remember it. It was fun and not too out of control.

Party

The house is now clean and prepared for the party we are having tonight. It was very dirty and it will be again by morning. Tonight should be fun. Steve invited a lot of people that I don't know. That's always good when you're drunk. I guess we did invite the neighbors. We'll see if they show after that fiasco.

Going After Canada

We're going after Canada now.

Our government spends way to much time worrying about other countries and practically none about our own.

Murray tried to express the feeling in the U.S. that looser drug laws go hand-in-hand with an increase in crime and drug addiction among youth, and used some apocalyptic language to do it.

Well that's bullshit and everyone should know it. All you have to do is luck at prohibition to know it. The crime rates skyrocketed during this time, and came down after it was repealed.

I'm getting really sick of our government's leaders using inflammatory language based on things easily disproved.

Leave Canada alone. They are a sovereign country remember.

Via Antipixel who some great comments.

8 Mile

I finally got around to seeing 8 mile. It was decent, but it lacked in the whole conflict - resolution thing. At least to me. The conflict that they were trying to push, social standing & confidence, wasn't pushed enough for me. There were other conflicts that stuck out more.

There was also a few unexplained things that bothered me. His girlfriend that he leaves, what was with that? If he hates living with his mom so much, why did he leave her, with the car no less? Brittany Murphy seemed kind of randomly placed. Her whole role was to tell him he was going to make it. Isn't that what Future was for?

As far as Eminem acting, he was fine. He had easy competition.

I don't necessarily need a movie to end with everything fine and dandy. If there isn't much carrying the movie though, it helps.

Privacy & Mystery

On Salon there is an article about this women who has been in a relationship with a guy for 5 years. The thing is, she doesn't know where he lives. Apparently he is incredibly secretive and private. He has all his mail sent to his mom's home, his address on his licenses is his mom's, etc.

On to my point, I love this guy. I wish I could pull off something like that. I don't think I have enough to offer a significant other to make up for it though. I'm just not that charismatic. Funny.

Yeah For Me

I'm a licensed motorcyclist.

Music

In the process of re-ripping some of my albums to AAC I've discovered quite a few albums that I never ripped in the first place. It must have been from when I first started and didn't have much hard drive space. I must have forgotten them when I finally received a real drive. That's three years without these albums. They can't be that good or I would have noticed. Still, a nice little find.

I love that iTunes 4 allows artwork. I never would have thought that I would use that feature.

Oh Yeah

I almost forgot. Happy May Day. We used to celebrate this when I was a kid. I can't remember what we did though. Something involving flowers and our neighbor, Mr. Ma....I have no idea how to spell it.

Rain, Rain, Go Away.

I was not so lucky today. It rained pretty hard all afternoon. By the time I got home I was soaked. No I can't seem to get warm. Maybe I'll stand in front of the oven for awhile.
