Slow, Busy

Not too long ago Etan wrote about how everyone's sites were quiet and how his comments had vanished. I noticed it as well. The amount of people coming to my site definitely dropped around then. That is until last friday when I got six times the amount page views than the day before. And it's still staying high.

Just thought that was kinda weird.

Cigarette Burns

I have this problem. I have an ashtray on my desk. Generally I keep it relatively close to the edge, I'm not sure why. I do it without thinking. So what happens is, every time I go to type something, I put my smoke in the little holder spots. I don't let the tip rest in the ashtray, seems dirty to me. Instead I balance it in the center.

So what happens next is the cigarette burns down, making it more back heavy. This causes the cigarette to fall out of the ashtray. Now my table must be at a slant because every time it rolls to the floor.

So far not that big of a deal, but what has happened three times in the last year now is a problem. I forget about it. I don't check it, I don't even think about. Sometimes I even leave the room. Thus I have three cigarette length burns on my floor.

This is not good. No matter how much I try I can't keep that damn ashtray farther away from the edge. Blah, I'm have to work on that. Anyone know how to get burn out of a floor without resorting to refinishing? I imagine not.

Sorry about the completely random rant, but you know how it is.

G5 Mess

This whole mess over Apple's claim that the G5 is the fastest desktop computer ever is utterly ridiculous. You have some people saying that they rigged the benchmarks and of course Apple is saying they didn't.

Blah, blah, blah. Every hardware company tests in a way that makes their machines look the best. For christ sake, Apple even had Photoshop stats that made the G4 look faster than the P4, which we all know is bullshit, and there was less of an uproar.

You can never trust a company to give an unbiased statistic, they have marketing departments to make sure that doesn't happen. So take Apple's spec scores with a grain of salt as well as everyone else's and move on.

My point is simply that the G5 is fast. Faster at somethings, slower at others I'm sure, but fucking fast none the less. No one can argue that they have caught up. What I would like to see are some comparisons to the G4 so I can know how much my computer sucks now :-)

I want one.

Or maybe my point was that everybody should just shut-up already, including me.

Not to get too much off topic, but I'm going to be at the Chicago Apple Store opening on friday. The reason for the visit is to pickup my new iSight of course. Here's hoping they have them in stock.

Sun Burn

I rode my motorcycle downtown today to see a client, and because I'm stupid I had to go home then back again. All told, I spent almost two hours on my bike in the scorching sun, between the hours of 11 and 3.

I'm burned, charred, and bright red. It hurts like hell and I have a headache from the heat. Horrible day. I't the most ridiculous burn pattern on top of it. Just the tops of my arms, the undersides are fine. I guess it's time for me to buy some sun block.
