The Broken Door

I rule, I rule, I rule.

The latch mechanism on my door to my room hasn't worked since I moved in. It didn't work when it was my roommate's room either. If I had to guess I would say it hasn't worked in 10 years or so.

It works now. A little exploratory surgery, a few tweaks to the springs (really just bent metal tabs) and the 60 year old thing works again. It is more efficient than ever as well. It had used three springs when only two were truly necessary.

I love to fix things like this.

Yes, Tom fixed the door perfectly, and then in one fell swoop, I managed to completely ruin an entire days work...turning the handle a little too hard. It was all over...The carnage and chaos which followed was indescribable...I've never seen him fly into such an angry rage...I'm just glad I got out of there alive. I suppose it was a metaphor for the role I play in his life...he spends hours trying to achieve some sort of stability in his natural environment, and then I unwittingly demolish all of his effort...poor guy. It's a good thing I don't have a guilty conscience.
