Hitchhikers

Somewhere in New Mexico I saw a sign that said:

Warning: Do not pick up hitchhikers in this area

Apparently this area had an especially dangerous group of hitchhikers compared to other areas.

Isn't it good advice to not pickup hitchhikers in any area?

You do, of course, understand that the warning is made because the area is frequented by Mexicans who've illegally crossed the border and that the border patrol doesn't need innocent (uh, clueless) drivers picking them up and taking them to safety.

I do realize that the sign is there for a reason. I just thought it sounded funny.
